The Hornady .224 75gr BTHP Match with Cannelure is a heavy-for-calibre boat-tail hollow-point component bullet designed for precision rifle shooting — identical in construction to the standard 75gr BTHP Match but with the addition of a cannelure. The cannelure is a circumferential groove around the bullet body that provides a positive crimp seat, making this variant particularly suited to semi-automatic rifles and machine-gun type applications where a firm crimp prevents bullet set-back under the forces of rapid feeding and extraction. Like all Hornady Match™ bullets, it is built around the AMP® (Advanced Manufacturing Process) jacket — a manufacturing technology that produces near-zero runout and minimal wall-thickness variation, delivering the concentricity on which match-grade accuracy depends. The precision swaged lead core adds consistent weight distribution. The secant ogive profile and optimised boattail geometry work together to maximise the ballistic coefficient at long range. At 75 grains, this bullet sits near the heavier end of the .224 diameter spectrum, improving wind resistance for 600- and 1,000-yard target shooting. Sold as component bullets for reloading in .224 diameter cartridges including 5.56×45mm NATO, .223 Remington, and .22-250 Remington.
