The Hornady FTX® is a 30 calibre (.308") 160-grain component projectile designed specifically for handloaders who shoot lever-action rifles chambered in 30-30 Win. Unlike conventional spitzer bullets, the FTX features Hornady's patented Flex Tip® technology — a soft polymer tip that compresses into the hollow cavity on impact, initiating reliable expansion across a wide range of velocities, yet is safe to store nose-to-primer in tubular magazines without risk of detonation. The one-piece high-antimony lead core is mechanically locked to the jacket via the InterLock® ring, ensuring the core and jacket remain bonded through expansion for deep penetration and high weight retention on deer and other medium game. A ballistically efficient secant ogive profile reduces drag and flattens trajectory compared to traditional round-nose lever-gun bullets, extending the effective range of your 30-30. Sold as component bullets for handloading; no FAC required to purchase bullet heads in the UK.
