Hornady Crimp Starter 28 Gauge 6-Point Shotshell
S118484
- Shotshell reloading press accessory — starts the fold crimp on 28-gauge hulls before the final crimp station
- 6-point configuration — the standard crimp pattern for 28-gauge hulls
- Gauge-specific sizing — designed for 28-gauge hulls only, not interchangeable with 12-gauge or 20-gauge tools
- Creates a centred, even crimp start to prevent off-centre or unevenly sealed finished shells
- Fits the crimp-start station on compatible Hornady shotshell reloading presses
The Hornady Crimp Starter 28 Gauge 6-Point is a shotshell reloading press accessory sized for 28-gauge hulls. It fits the crimp-start station on a compatible shotshell press and initiates the fold crimp as part of the normal loading cycle, pressing into the open hull mouth to reform the six crimp folds and set a centred starting point before the hull advances to the final crimp stage. The 28-gauge is a smaller bore than both 12 and 20 gauge, and the crimp starter must be sized accordingly — using the wrong gauge tool will either fail to engage the hull mouth correctly or damage it. The 6-point crimp pattern is standard for 28-gauge hulls. For those who reload for 28-gauge game guns — a popular choice for walked-up shooting and driven birds where a light, responsive gun is valued — keeping the press correctly set up with gauge-matched tooling is what produces the consistent, well-sealed shells that make a day in the field go smoothly.
