The Hornady Superformance CX in .300 Win Mag 165gr is a lead-free centre-fire rifle cartridge built around Hornady's monolithic CX (Copper eXpanding) bullet. The CX bullet is machined from copper alloy with a polymer tip that initiates rapid, controlled expansion on impact, while the boat-tail base and secant ogive profile aid in-flight stability and long-range accuracy. Superformance propellant technology drives the 165gr projectile at velocities up to 100–200 fps faster than conventional loads without additional pressure, delivering a flatter trajectory and retained energy at distance. Weight retention typically exceeds 95%, making this round well suited to deer stalking and woodland shooting where shot placement and terminal performance are critical.
