This is not ammunition — it is a calibre-specific measuring device that threads onto the OAL Gauge so you can insert the assembly into your lever-action or single-shot rifle's chamber and measure the exact distance from the case head to the rifling lands. The .45-70 Government is a long-established cartridge still favoured for heavy timber hunting and cast-bullet work, and knowing your exact lands distance is the starting point for accurate bullet seating, whether you are loading for mild cast-bullet plinking or full-power hunting loads. The modified case is manufactured to SAAMI specifications for the .45-70 Govt and features a specially prepared neck that holds a standard-diameter bullet concentrically, delivering a consistent measurement each time.
