The Hornady Lock-N-Load 7mm WSM Modified Case is a chambering-specific reloading accessory for use with the Hornady Lock-N-Load OAL (Overall Length) Gauge, sold separately. It is a once-fired 7mm Winchester Short Magnum case that has been drilled and threaded at the base to screw onto the OAL Gauge body. The reloader seats a bullet of their choice in the open neck, then chambers the assembly in the rifle to find the precise cartridge overall length at which the bullet engages the rifling lands. This measurement enables the handloader to establish optimum bullet seating depth for the 7mm WSM — a short-action magnum cartridge that delivers strong performance in a compact action. Manufactured to SAAMI specifications, the modified case fits standard 7mm WSM chambers. It is an inert, reusable measuring tool and is not a loaded round, is not intended for firing, and does not require a firearms certificate.
