The Hornady Shell Plate #3 is a precision-machined steel indexing plate for the Hornady Lock-N-Load AP progressive press and the Projector press. Fitted to the press's rotating platform, it holds cartridge cases as they index through each station — sizing, priming, powder drop, and seating — keeping each case positioned correctly at every stage of the reloading cycle. Each shell holder mouth has a subtle machined radius to allow smooth case insertion and ejection, reducing the likelihood of case damage or stoppages during high-volume reloading sessions. The spring-loaded retainer is designed to remain in place when you insert cases, rather than having to hold it back manually.
