The Hornady Shell Plate #5 is a purpose-built rotating steel indexing plate for the Hornady Lock-N-Load AP progressive press and the Projector press. It fits the central platform of the press and advances cartridge cases through each reloading station in turn — full-length sizing, priming, powder charging, bullet seating, and crimping — holding every case in precise alignment at each stage. The shell holder mouths are machined with a gentle radius to allow cases to enter and eject cleanly without scoring or resistance. Hornady's retainer spring design keeps cases seated in the plate during indexing without springing out of position when you load the next case. Each numbered plate is designed to fit a group of cartridges sharing the same case-head diameter, so a single plate often serves multiple calibres.
