The Rix Stride ST3 Lite is a compact, handheld thermal imaging monocular for spotting vermin, predators and game after dark, and it mounts to a helmet for hands-free walking too. At its core is a 384x288 sensor with a 12 micron pixel pitch and NETD below 20mK, paired with a 15mm F1.0 lens giving 1-6x magnification, a 17.5 x 13.1 degree field of view and a detection range out to 780m. Images are shown on a sharp 1024x768 OLED display, and the unit records photos and video straight to 32GB of built-in memory. Built-in Wi-Fi links to the RIX+ app on Android or iOS for live image streaming and wireless firmware updates. The body is IP67 waterproof and rated to work from -20C to +50C, so it copes with a wet Scottish night as readily as a hard frost. Power comes from a single 18650 battery giving around 4 hours of use, with USB-C charging for topping up in the field. At 190g and 120 x 71 x 47mm it is genuinely pocketable, making it a useful lightweight companion for stalking reconnaissance, permission walks and pest control alike.
