David Tulloch Reviews The Schmidt & Bender 8x56 Klassick

You regularly get to read Bushwear's own opinion on products, but we'd be remiss if we didn't ackowledge that every retailer is a little bit biased towards their own products.  That's why we've enlisted the help of real customers from all shooting disciplines to review the goods we sell in a real environment.  This week, David Tulloch gives us his thoughts on the the Schmidt & Bender 8 x 56 Klassick. If you'd like to be featured on our blog and social media, drop an example review to marketing@bushwear.co.uk.Schmidt & Bender 8x56 Klassick. Bushwear Sale price £499.

This is the first scope review I have done for Bushwear with regards to a rifle scope. I was looking for a scope that was of a good quality brand but also within a budget between £500 and £1000. Alisdair at Bushwear said that he had this one on sale for just under the £500 so I jumped at it.

      Specs
  • 8x56 fixed zoom
  • Fixed parralax
  • A7 reticle
  • 30mm tube.

I tested this scope on the Howa 1500 .243. I really did not wanna go down the road of putting it on the .270 as it is my primary stalking rifle and it's already sitting ready to go when I get the call.

On the .243 it looked big but here was a noticeable difference and the balance was very good.

The glass is perfectly clear (as you can imagine) and immensely easy to zero with a full cap turret adjustment instead of the harder key turn turrets like the older models.

The weight of the scope is truly not any heavier than most and, although it is longer than most normal stalking fixed zoom scopes, it is very streamlined so no problems getting it in and out of your slip when needed.

I currently use an older Kahles 6x42 scope on my .270 so I can easily compare. Even though I think my 6x42 is a very good stalking scope I would happily replace my Kahles with this.

As you can imagine Schmidt & Bender is a well known brand and highly proven to be very capable in getting the job done. There is no doubt that this is a very good quality scope but what I am more impressed by is the price. This is one of the best (in my opinion) quality fixed zoom stalking scopes on the market, however, the price is down with your medium range stalking scopes at a budget price.

I guess this review is less interesting for general Schmidt & Bender users as they already know and fully appreciate the quality of their scopes and this scope specifically, but what I hope I’ve achieved here is to highlight to shooters within a budget that they can still have the best quality on the market at an affordable price.
