The Rohm RG3 is a 6mm (.22) blank-firing starting pistol, made in Germany and finished in bright orange to comply with UK law. It's a familiar sight at gundog training days, where handlers use it to introduce and steady dogs to the sound of gunshot, building the association between a bang and a retrieve rather than a flinch. The same qualities make it a popular choice as a starting pistol for athletics meetings and other events needing a reliable, loud report. It's a top-venting design, so spent cases and gases are expelled upwards through the top of the slide as it cycles, keeping the action clear.
