The Air Arms Q-Tec Short is a compact, calibre-specific moderator for .177 (4.5mm) air rifles fitted with a 1/2" UNF female thread at the muzzle. It is a shortened version of the full-size Q-Tec and attaches via a 1/2" UNF male connection, making it suitable for the S510/500 range, the S410/400 range, and any air rifle with a compatible female-threaded muzzle. At 135mm long, 31.25mm in diameter and weighing just 134g, it keeps overall length and muzzle weight to a minimum without sacrificing meaningful noise reduction — a sensible choice when a full-length moderator would upset a rifle's balance or catch on a hide. Five rings are machined into the tube halfway along its length, a signature detail of the Q-Tec Short that aids grip during fitting and removal. Air Arms developed the Q-Tec range using fluid dynamics simulation to optimise internal baffling, and the full Q-Tec line has been tested at over 10% quieter than the leading competing moderator.
