The H&N Slug HP is a hollow-point lead slug designed for high-power PCP air rifles capable of reaching distances well beyond 50 metres. Unlike conventional diabolo pellets, the slug profile delivers a notably favourable ballistic coefficient, giving a flatter trajectory and superior energy retention at range. This variant is .25 calibre (6.35 mm) with a head diameter of .250 inch (6.36 mm) and weighs 36 grains. H&N coat every Slug HP with a special lubricant to reduce barrel friction and protect the bore. For reliable performance, a minimum muzzle energy of 25 Joules is required; H&N recommend 40–60 Joules for best results. Barrels with a twist rate optimised for slugs produce significantly tighter groups. Every slug is visually inspected, hand packed, and cushioned with foam pads inside H&N's standard screw-on tin of 120. A serious long-range option for hunters and competitive field target shooters demanding consistent accuracy at extended distances.
