The Gerber Crew Served Weapons (CSW) Tool is a compact maintenance tool built for the US Army's two most widely fielded automatic weapons systems, the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon and the M240 machine gun. Made from 400-series stainless steel with glass-filled handles, it packs 13 separate functions across both platforms into one durable, pocket-sized package, replacing a handful of individual armourer's tools with a single item. Each side of the tool is stamped M249 or M240, so the right function set is easy to find under pressure. On the M249 side it handles gas-block removal, barrel and shoulder scraping, inner and outer groove scraping, inner-cup debris removal from the piston, and gas-tube groove scraping. On the M240 side it covers shoulder and barrel scraping, outer groove scraping, piston scraping, and port punching. A MOLLE-compatible sheath is included, so the tool clips straight onto a belt or vest for quick access during stoppage drills or routine cleaning. Gerber has since discontinued the CSW Tool, making surviving stock a useful pick-up for anyone maintaining these platforms or building out a period-correct armourer's kit.
