The H&N Slug HP is a hollow-point lead slug for .22 calibre PCP air rifles, built for accurate shooting at ranges well beyond 50 metres. Unlike a conventional diabolo pellet, its bullet shape gives a high ballistic coefficient for a flatter trajectory and better energy retention downrange, while the hollow point opens up on impact for clean pest control and hunting. At 30 grains this is the heaviest weight in the Slug HP line, carrying the most retained energy to the target at distance. This tin holds 200 slugs in .217 (5.51mm) head diameter; H&N also offers a .218 (5.53mm) version, so you can match the slug to your barrel's bore for the tightest groups. Each slug is coated with a lubricant to reduce barrel friction, and every batch is visually inspected, hand packed and cushioned with foam pads in the familiar H&N screw-top tin. H&N quotes a minimum muzzle energy of 25 joules, with 40 to 60 joules recommended, so these suit FAC-rated rifles rather than sub-12 ft·lb airguns. Barrels with a faster twist rate designed for slugs give noticeably better results.
