The Hornady MonoFlex® is a monolithic copper alloy component bullet engineered specifically for lever-action rifles using tube magazines, including the popular 30-30 Winchester. The patented Flex Tip® design — borrowed from Hornady's FTX® line — uses a soft, compressible tip that is safe to stack point-to-primer in a tubular magazine while still initiating reliable expansion on impact, even at the lower velocities typical of lever-gun cartridges at extended range. Monolithic copper alloy construction means there is no jacket to separate; Hornady rates recovered MonoFlex bullets at 95% weight retention, delivering deep penetration and consistent terminal performance. The alloy formulation is harder and tougher than solid copper, helping it resist the pressure increases and bore fouling that solid copper can cause. A ballistically efficient secant ogive profile makes the most of the trajectory available from lever-gun cartridges. At 140 grains in .308" diameter, this bullet is well suited to handloaders building 30-30 Win loads for woodland deer stalking. Sold as a component bullet for reloading — not loaded ammunition.
