The Hornady InterLock Round Nose (RN) in .308" diameter, 180 grains is a component projectile for handloaders seeking a classic, controlled-expansion hunting bullet for use in lever-action rifles or at close to medium ranges where a flat nose or blunt tip is preferred. Like all InterLock designs, a raised ring moulded into the jacket is embedded in the lead core, locking core and jacket together during expansion to retain mass and energy — resisting the separation that can rob a soft point of its terminal effectiveness. A precision-tapered jacket manages expansion across a range of velocities, while inner grooves weaken the jacket upper section for reliable mushrooming. The cannelure provides a firm crimp point for reloaders. The one-piece lead core delivers large, consistent wound channels for a clean, humane kill on deer and similar quarry. The round nose profile makes this bullet an excellent choice for tube-magazine lever guns where pointed bullets are not safe to stack.
