The result is a muzzle velocity of 2,675 fps and 1,986 ft-lb of muzzle energy from a 24-inch test barrel — enough for clean, confident performance on deer and similarly sized quarry, delivered with noticeably less felt recoil and reduced muzzle blast than a standard 308 load. The SST's polymer tip initiates expansion reliably across a wide velocity range, and the boat-tail base aids a flat trajectory out to practical hunting distances.
