The Hornady FP XTP (Flat Point eXtreme Terminal Performance) is a flat-nosed variant of the XTP jacketed hollow-point designed for handloaders loading .38 Special or .357 Magnum. The flat-point profile makes this 125-grain, .357" diameter bullet particularly well suited to tubular-magazine revolvers and lever-action pistol-calibre carbines where a flat meplat is preferred or required for safe stacking in the magazine. Like all XTP bullets, it retains the core design features: precise serrations dividing the jacket into symmetrical sections to initiate controlled expansion even at lower velocities, a drawn gilding-metal jacket with variable thickness along its length to govern the rate of upset, and a swaged lead core for uniform density and consistent in-flight stability. The fully enclosed nose keeps the hollow cavity clear for reliable expansion on impact. Revolver-specification bullets carry a cannelure to permit accurate, consistent case crimping. These are component projectiles for handloading only — not loaded ammunition.
