The Hornady Full-Length Size Die for .17 Hornet (.172) sizes cartridge cases to SAAMI minimum specifications, making it an essential tool for reloaders working with this flat-shooting varmint calibre. At its heart is Hornady's Elliptical Expander — a proprietary design that outperforms conventional ball expanders by delivering exceptionally smooth neck sizing while significantly reducing friction and case neck stretch. Internal threading secures the expander so it cannot pull loose, and it also eliminates the need for a separate expander die when necking up to the next calibre. The Elliptical Expander and headed decap pin are mated to the Zip Spindle™, which features light threads on both the spindle and spindle lock for precise incremental adjustments or fast "zip" movements for larger changes, locking positively to prevent any slippage. The internal die profile is precision machined and polished to a mirror finish, ensuring cases feed and release without sticking or excessive friction. The included Sure-Loc™ lock ring clamps around the full die body to hold its position under constant pressure, with wrench flats built in for clean, damage-free removal.
