The Hornady Lock-N-Load Modified Case for 221 Remington Fireball is a precision reloading measurement tool designed to work with the Hornady Lock-N-Load Overall Length (OAL) Gauge (sold separately). It is not ammunition. The modified case is manufactured to SAAMI specifications and features a threaded neck that threads onto the LNL OAL Gauge. You seat a bullet of your choice into the modified case, chamber the assembly in your own 221 Rem Fireball rifle, and the gauge measures the exact distance from the cartridge head to the point where the bullet touches the rifling lands. This gives you the true maximum OAL for your specific chamber, so you can set your seating die to achieve the precise bullet-to-lands distance you are after. Every rifle chamber is slightly different, which is why measurements must be taken in your own firearm. Manufactured to SAAMI specifications for consistent, repeatable results.
