The Hornady Neck Size Die for .224 calibre is a precision reloading tool for handloaders who want to extend brass life by sizing only the neck, preserving the fire-formed fit of the case to the chamber. Built to the exacting standards Hornady applies across its reloading die range, it features a removable Elliptical Expander that outperforms traditional ball expanders — reducing friction and case neck stretch while internally threaded mounting prevents the expander from pulling loose during use. The Elliptical Expander also eliminates the need for a separate expander die when necking up to the next calibre. Both the Elliptical Expander and the hardened steel Headed Decap Pin are mated to a Zip Spindle™ that locks positively to prevent slippage; light threads on the spindle allow fine incremental adjustment or rapid repositioning with a simple zip motion. The die ships with Hornady's Sure-Loc™ lock ring, which clamps around the full die body and locks without the screw contacting the threads, protecting die finish.
