The Hornady Universal Decapping Die is a specialist reloading die built to handle the cases that defeat standard sizing dies — military brass with swaged, crimped primer pockets. Where conventional decapping pins bend or break under the extra resistance of a swaged pocket, Hornady's robust decapping rod pushes through cleanly, letting you deprime military surplus cases before moving on to sizing and case prep. The die accepts Boxer-primed brass from .223 Remington upwards and fits any standard reloading press with 7/8"-14 threads, so it works across the full range of centrefire rifle calibres used for stalking, foxing and target shooting. It is not suitable for Berdan-primed cases. Decapping before sizing keeps your sizing die free of dirt and spent primers, prolonging its service life and keeping the reloading process clean. The die comes with a storage box; a shell holder is required separately. An honest, hardworking addition to any reloader's die box.
