The Lee .222 Remington Dead Length Bullet Seating Die sets overall cartridge length from the case mouth rather than from the cartridge base, so seating depth remains consistent regardless of minor case length variation — a useful trait when loading for accuracy with the .222 Remington. The die body contacts the shell holder, positively stopping the stroke at the same point on every press cycle. Seating depth is adjusted with a simple finger-turn collar, and the die works with almost any bullet profile from flat-base to boat-tail or hollow-point. Two crimp shoulders are machined into the seating plug: a taper crimp shoulder for semi-auto or lever-gun applications and a roll crimp shoulder where a cannelure is present. The die is part of Lee's Pacesetter range and is machined to standard 7/8–14 thread, fitting all major single-stage and turret presses.
