The Lee Factory Crimp Die for the .300 WSM (Winchester Short Magnum) uses a collet-style mechanism to apply a firm, consistent crimp to the seated bullet — more securely than a conventional roll-crimp die. Because the collet grips the case body rather than rolling the case mouth, there is no risk of buckling the brass, and trim length is not critical. The real benefit for hunters and target shooters alike is improved load consistency: a firmer crimp raises the pressure threshold before the bullet moves, producing a more uniform pressure curve and tighter velocity spread shot to shot. Lee's own testing shows measurable accuracy gains even with bullets that lack a dedicated crimp groove, as the collet is strong enough to form one. Fits any standard 7/8"-14 threaded reloading press.
