Mounting a scope in rings that don't line up is the quickest way to dent a tube, stress the erector and chase a wandering zero. Wheeler's Scope Ring Alignment and Lapping Kit for 30mm rings sorts the problem before the scope ever goes near the rifle. Fit the two pointed alignment bars in place of the scope and the tips show at a glance whether your rings are out vertically or horizontally, so you can correct the mounts or shim before any harm is done. The 30mm lapping bar and handle, used with the supplied 220 grit lapping compound, then true the inside of the rings so they make full, even contact around the scope tube — better grip with less clamping stress, which matters on a stalking rifle that gets knocked about in the truck and on the hill. Complete instructions are included, and it's a job any careful owner can do at the kitchen table. For 30mm-tube scopes; Wheeler also makes 1 inch and 34mm versions of the kit.
