Sierra's GameKing 8mm (.323) 220 grain Spitzer Boat Tail is a long-range hunting bullet built specifically around the 8mm Remington Magnum, giving reloaders a proven option for the largest game found in North America and thin-skinned African plains species. The boat tail profile delivers the ballistic advantage more commonly associated with match target bullets, holding a flatter trajectory downrange and reducing sensitivity to crosswinds. An extremely heavy, double-tapered jacket is designed to control expansion while still achieving deep, smashing penetration on big-bodied animals. With a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.521 and a sectional density of 0.301, this is a bullet built for retained energy and controlled expansion rather than rapid varmint-style fragmentation. Sierra rates this projectile as too hard for use in the 8x57mm Mauser and does not recommend it in any cartridge producing less than magnum-level velocities, so it should be reserved for genuine magnum applications.
