The Sierra MatchKing .22 calibre (.224") 69 grain Hollow Point Boat Tail is a match-grade reloading bullet built for serious target shooters, not a loaded cartridge. Sierra draws the jacket to an exacting concentricity tolerance and holds weight to within a fraction of a grain, giving the consistency that has made MatchKing bullets a mainstay of Service Rifle, F-Class and High Power competition since the design was introduced in 1984. The small meplat and boat tail profile combine to give a strong ballistic coefficient of 0.301, with a sectional density of 0.196, helping the bullet buck wind and hold velocity at 200 and 300 yard match distances. It needs a barrel twist rate of 1 in 10" or faster to stabilise properly; slower twists will not shoot it well. This is supplied as a box of 500 projectiles only, for handloaders to seat themselves — there is no primer, case or powder included, and MatchKing bullets are not intended for hunting use. For UK reloaders after proven, repeatable accuracy from their .22 centrefire, this is one of the benchmark choices on the market.
