The Sierra MatchKing 135 grain HPBT is a .277in (.270 calibre) match-grade rifle bullet built for serious long-range accuracy, sold here in a box of 100 projectiles for handloaders. It is the heaviest MatchKing currently offered in .270 calibre, combining a long ogive with a small meplat and a boat tail base to give outstanding low-drag performance and a high ballistic coefficient of .488. Sierra draws the jacket to a tight concentricity tolerance and holds bullet weight to within plus or minus 0.3 grain, so rounds group consistently at distance. The hollow point boat tail design has been used to win more target competitions than bullets from any other maker, and remains a favourite of UK target shooters loading for .270 Winchester and similar cartridges. Sierra recommends barrels with a twist rate of at least 1 in 10in for stable flight. Note that this is a component bullet only, not loaded ammunition, so a press, dies, brass, primers and powder are needed to load it.
