The H&N Slug HP Heavy expands the weight range for .22 calibre airgun slugs and is built specifically for long-range hunting and target shooting with high-power PCP air rifles. Head diameter is .218" (5.53mm), weight is 34 grains, and each tin contains 150 slugs. The defining feature is a hollow-point design with a large meplat combined with soft lead — on impact this delivers rapid expansion and efficient energy transfer for a quick, humane kill. Swaged from pure lead, these slugs are intended for slug-rifled barrels and high-power platforms that can drive a 34-grain projectile at the velocity required to stabilise it. H&N developed and tested the Heavy Slug in close collaboration with Air Hunter Gerhard, a well-regarded figure in airgun hunting and competitive shooting. For hunters pushing effective ranges beyond what conventional diabolo pellets allow, these slugs offer a reliable step up in retained energy and trajectory performance.
