The H&N Slug HP Heavy in .218 head size (.22 / 5.53 mm) is a 38-grain hollow-point lead slug designed for long-range hunting and target shooting with high-power PCP air rifles. Unlike conventional diabolo pellets, these are solid-form projectiles intended for slug barrels or appropriately choked standard barrels, and they require a rifle producing at least 25 joules — with 40 to 60 joules delivering the best downrange performance. The large-meplat hollow-point cavity, combined with soft lead construction, promotes reliable expansion on impact for maximum energy transfer and a quick, humane kill. Developed and tested in close collaboration with Air Hunter Gerhard, a renowned airgun hunting and competitive shooting specialist, the Heavy Slug extends H&N's .22 weight range to 38 grains, improving ballistic coefficient and energy retention at extended distances — the slugs are capable of accurate flight to 50, 100 and even 200 metres in the right rifle.
