The H&N Slug HP Heavy expands the weight options in .22 calibre (head size .217", 5.51 mm) and is built for long-range hunting and target shooting with high-power PCP air rifles. At 36 grains it sits at the heavier end of the H&N slug range, delivering greater downrange energy retention and a flatter trajectory than lighter projectiles. The defining feature is a large-meplat hollow point with a star-shaped cavity machined into soft lead, engineered to initiate reliable expansion on impact for a clean, humane kill on small to medium quarry. Unlike conventional wadcutter or dome pellets, these cylindrical slugs are suited to the faster rifling twist rates of modern regulated PCPs. They were developed and tested in close collaboration with Air Hunter Gerhard, a recognised authority in airgun hunting. A minimum muzzle energy of 18.5 ft-lb is recommended to ensure consistent stabilisation and terminal performance. Each tin contains 150 slugs.
