Barnes TSX bullets are solid, all-copper rifle projectiles for handloaders, supplied in .224in (22 calibre) diameter as 62 grain boat-tail hollow points, 50 to a box. Unlike conventional lead-core bullets, the TSX is machined from a single copper billet, so there's no risk of core-jacket separation and virtually all the bullet's weight is retained on impact. Grooves cut into the bullet's shank reduce the bearing surface in contact with the bore, cutting friction and fouling while allowing higher velocities at lower chamber pressures. On impact, the specially engineered hollow nose cavity peels back into four sharp copper petals, doubling the bullet's diameter for a wide wound channel and deep, reliable penetration, even where velocity has dropped off at longer range. A boat-tail base keeps drag down in flight for a flatter trajectory downrange. Being lead-free, TSX bullets are a straightforward choice where lead-based ammunition is restricted, without giving up the terminal performance UK deer stalkers and rifle shooters rely on. Best suited to a barrel with a 1-in-9in twist or faster. Sold as bullet heads only for handloading; no cases, primers or powder are included.

An excellent quality copper bullet from Barns

These (224) calibre copper bullets from Barns, really need to be stabilised with a 1 in 8" or 9" rate of rifling twist, as the extra length of these bullets should give more stability & less wind disruption down range but always remember the calibre of bullet is (.224) & of it's capabilities down range for deformation, expansion & the need for these excellent copper bullets to retain the velocity to allow expansion of the projectile & to keep the distance to within this calibres capabilities to mushroom, & create a substantial wound channel especially if your Quarry are smaller deer, plus you should always have access to a blood senting tracking canine assistant just incase the animal goes down in heavy cover. Having said this, I find these copper bullets by Barns, both the TTSX & TSX to be excellent quality copper bullets, when used within their parameters & always please check your rifle is zeroed for the barns copper bullet of your choice.
