The Hornady InterLock® 220 grain .308" Round Nose (RN) component bullet is a traditional handloading projectile for 30-calibre lever-action and bolt-action cartridges such as .30-30 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. It is a component projectile for reloaders — not loaded ammunition — and does not require a firearms certificate to purchase in the UK. The round nose profile is the classic choice for tubular-magazine lever-action rifles where pointed tips are unsafe, and the heavy 220 grain weight provides high momentum for close-range stalking through timber and dense cover. Hornady's InterLock® system features a raised ring inside the jacket that locks into the lead core, keeping core and jacket together during expansion to retain mass and deliver deep, consistent wound channels. The tapered jacket, with thickness precisely controlled from base to tip, ensures controlled expansion across a broad velocity range. Inner grooves strategically weaken the upper jacket section for consistent, reliable expansion, while the cannelure provides a reliable crimp point and works in concert with the InterLock® ring.
