Smith's Caprella 2-Step Knife Sharpener packs a coarse and a fine sharpening stage into a pocket-sized tool. The coarse stage uses two crossed carbide blades preset to a 20-degree angle, and three or four strokes through the slots is enough to bring a genuinely dull edge back in seconds. The fine stage is a pair of crossed ceramic rods, also set to 20 degrees, for touching up a blade that's already sharp rather than starting from scratch. Both stages sit in a 420 stainless steel frame with non-slip rubber feet, so it grips a bench or a flat rock without sliding about while you work.
