The Vortex Solo 8x36 is a compact monocular built for stalkers, birdwatchers and anyone who wants a closer look at wildlife or distant ground without carrying a full pair of binoculars. Its roof-prism design keeps the body small and light at just 9.7oz, while the 8x magnification and 36mm objective lens combine to give a bright, wide field of view -- 393ft at 1000 yards (7.5 degree angular field of view) -- useful for scanning a hillside or picking out detail at range. Vortex's SD optical system and fully multi-coated lenses cut chromatic aberration and boost light transmission, so the image stays sharp and clean even at dawn or dusk. A 4.5mm exit pupil and 18mm eye relief make it comfortable to use, including for glasses wearers, and a close focus of 16.4ft means it also handles closer subjects. The rubber-armoured body is nitrogen-purged and O-ring sealed, so it's waterproof, fogproof and shockproof, ready for a day on the hill in any weather. A utility clip lets you carry it on a belt or pack strap for quick access, and it comes complete with a carry case and neck lanyard.
