The St. Hubertus Antler Stain is a trophy-finishing product imported directly from Germany, designed to restore or enhance the colour of deer antlers before they are mounted. It is particularly useful for bucks taken early in the season, when the antlers may not yet have fully hardened, or for animals shot whilst still in velvet. With care and patience the stain produces striking, natural-looking results. It works best on antlers that have been allowed to harden fully — fresh, fully developed antlers take the stain evenly across the surface, giving a consistent, deep finish. Antlers stripped whilst still in full velvet, or those that have been left outside and become weathered, tend to be highly porous; they absorb the stain rapidly and leave little colour on the surface. Applying the stain methodically, allowing each coat to dry before assessing whether a further application is needed, gives the best results.
