The Napier Super VP90 Sachet is a vapour-phase corrosion inhibitor designed to protect firearms in storage. Rather than an oil or spray, it releases a controlled, dry vapour that is attracted only to metal, both ferrous and non-ferrous, forming an invisible monomolecular film that will not adhere to wood, plastic or glass. This means it seeks out and coats exposed metal surfaces, including areas an oil can cannot reach, without leaving any oily residue, odour or VOCs, and it is biodegradable. Simply place the sachet inside a gun cabinet or gun slip and, wherever air can penetrate, it provides ongoing protection against rust and corrosion caused by moisture and other airborne contaminants. Unlike heaters or desiccants, VP90 does not absorb moisture, so it will not dry out wooden gun stocks or cause the cracking and splitting associated with those alternatives, and it continues to work regardless of humidity. One sachet is rated to protect a typical five-gun cabinet, or around one cubic metre of space, for over a year.
