The Vortex Razor HD 27-60x85 is a full-size, straight-bodied spotting scope built for glassing serious distances - scanning open hillside for deer, confirming antler points before a stalk, or picking out detail on a distant beast. An HD optical system with index-matched apochromatic (APO) lenses controls colour fringing across the whole 27-60x zoom range, while XR Plus fully multi-coated lenses and dielectric prism coatings keep the image bright and colour-true even as light fades. The 85mm objective pulls in plenty of light for late-evening glassing, and edge-to-edge sharpness holds up at the top of the zoom range where cheaper scopes start to fall apart. Construction is properly field-grade: O-ring sealed and argon-gas purged against water and fogging, with ArmorTek coating to shrug off scratches, oil and dirt on the exposed lenses, and a rubber-armoured body for a secure grip in the wet. The straight body mounts directly to Arca-Swiss tripod heads with no extra plate needed, and the helical focus is snag-free when packing up in a hurry.
