The Roma is Bestard's laceless travel shoe, built for comfort and easy on/off rather than technical hill use. A heel-fastening system replaces conventional laces, so the shoe pulls on and off in seconds while still holding the foot securely at the instep. The upper is water-repellent Perwanger leather at 2.0mm — lighter than the leather used on Bestard's mountain boots — lined in breathable air-mesh for everyday comfort rather than waterproofing. The Vibram Best Travel outsole, paired with EVA, is built specifically for this kind of shoe: good grip and stability without the weight of a walking-boot sole. At 840g a pair (UK 8) it's one of the lightest things Bestard make. Bestard position the Roma for travel and everyday wear in town or country, not for serious hillwalking or stalking — it's the spare pair for the evening after a day on the hill, or for getting about when a full boot isn't needed. Anyone after a technical trekking or mountain boot from Bestard should look at the Gredos or Nova ranges instead.
