The kit includes a ground anchor, a 4 metre telescopic fibreglass pole and a life-sized hawk kite with a 1.4m wingspan that swoops and dives in the lightest of winds, mimicking a bird of prey on the hunt. Mounted at the highest point of the area under threat, it gives pigeons, starlings, gulls and crows a clear, moving silhouette to avoid, discouraging unwanted feeding and nesting without a single bird being harmed. It suits allotments, vegetable patches, newly seeded lawns, rooftops and other vulnerable buildings, and is a straightforward option for smallholders and keen growers who need a humane deterrent rather than a lethal one. The kite and pole are built from lightweight, corrosion-resistant, all-weather materials, and the kit sets up in minutes with only a light breeze needed to get it flying; take it down once winds exceed around 20mph.
