The Bisley Payne Galway Brush is a phosphor bronze bore brush for 20-gauge shotguns, built on the pattern named after Sir Ralph Payne-Gallwey. It threads onto a cleaning rod and scrubs out the carbon, powder fouling and plastic-wad residue that builds up in the barrel, chambers and forcing cones. The dense phosphor bronze bristles are stiff enough to shift stubborn, baked-on deposits without distorting or compacting in use, which is exactly what you want if you shoot a lot of plastic-wad cartridges through a 20-bore. To use it, run a bore solvent through the barrel, attach the brush to your rod and pass it through several times, then follow up with a jag and patch from chamber to muzzle to clear the loosened fouling. The brush carries an English thread, so it suits Bisley and Parker Hale shotgun cleaning rods such as the Fieldsman. It is a sensible addition to any 20-gauge cleaning kit for game, clay or rough shooting, keeping the bore clean and consistent through the season.
