The VC variable choke silencer
A muzzle-mounted airgun silencer in 1/2in UNF. That is the common airgun thread, but it is not the only one — check what your barrel is actually cut to before ordering, because a thread that is close but wrong will either not start or will sit off-axis, and a moderator that is off-axis will be clipped by the pellet. If you are in any doubt, a gunsmith will tell you in thirty seconds.
The variable choke lets you adjust the aperture. Worth saying plainly: a moderator on an air rifle reduces muzzle report, it does not silence the mechanism, and on a springer most of the noise a neighbour hears is the piston, not the muzzle.
Pellets
Red Star .22 in packs of 250.
The legal position
In Scotland an Air Weapon Certificate is required to buy, use or possess an air weapon. Elsewhere in Great Britain no certificate is needed provided the rifle stays under 12 ft/lb (6 ft/lb for a pistol) and the purchaser is 18 or over. Pellets and moderators for air weapons are not certificate items; the gun is.
