Caldwell make the bags and rests most UK ranges are full of. The range here runs from a rear bag for zeroing to a full portable bench.
Filled or unfilled
DeadShot bags come both ways. Filled is ready to use; unfilled ships light and you fill it yourself with sand or media once it arrives, which is worth thinking about if you are ordering several. The boxed combo gives you front and rear together, which is what you actually want for zeroing — a rear bag on its own leaves the fore-end unsupported and you will chase the group.
Choosing
- DeadShot front and rear bags — the standard zeroing setup, and light enough to walk to a high seat with.
- Matrix adjustable rest — rifle and pistol, elevation adjustment, for load development and serious group work off a bench.
- Blind Bag — a squab-style filled bag that works off a bonnet, a gate or a high seat rail where a formal rest will not sit.
- Stable Table Lite — a portable bench for ground with no facilities.
A bag supports the rifle, not the barrel. Rest the fore-end, keep the barrel clear of everything, and your groups will tighten before you have changed a single component.
