Wrapped in a high-definition photographic canvas print of real grouse feather patterns, it gives your dog the same visual and scent cues as the genuine bird while staying light, compact and easy to throw. Being a ball rather than a bird shape, it bounces and rolls unpredictably on landing and buries itself in long grass, heather and rough cover, so a dog has to hunt it out rather than simply mark and collect it — good preparation for the tough moorland going involved in walked-up or driven grouse work. It is buoyant, so it doubles up for water training, and comes fitted with a rope and toggle for easy throwing and recovery.
