The H&N Slug HP Heavy in .250 head size (6.35 mm / .25 calibre) is a swaged lead slug purpose-built for long-range hunting and target shooting with high-power PCP air rifles. Weighing 40 grains and supplied in a tin of 100, it occupies the heavier end of H&N's .25 slug range and is designed to deliver consistent, accurate performance well beyond 50 metres. The hollow-point cavity features a large meplat combined with soft lead, promoting rapid and reliable expansion on impact for maximum energy transfer and a quick, humane kill. H&N quote a ballistic coefficient of 0.12 for this weight, supporting a flatter trajectory and better retained energy downrange than lighter waisted pellets at equivalent velocities. A minimum muzzle energy of 29.5 ft-lb is recommended to stabilise and expand the slug correctly, making it a natural pairing for regulated high-power PCPs running .25 bore. The design was developed and tested in collaboration with Air Hunter Gerhard, a recognised specialist in airgun hunting and long-range field shooting.
