At 24.38 grains the .25 Silver Point is the heaviest pellet in this family, and it needs a rifle to match - H&N specify a minimum 18.5 ft/lbs muzzle energy, which in the UK means an FAC-rated air rifle rather than a sub-12 gun. Given that power, it hits hard. The pointed head and the blood grooves along the body are both aimed at penetration, concentrating the energy into a small area and driving it through rather than spreading it on impact. It is a close-to-medium-range pellet and H&N are straightforward about that, rating it to 30 metres; with a ballistic coefficient of 0.014 it loses velocity quickly beyond that, so range discipline matters more than it would with a domed pellet.
