These are Hornady's 6mm .243 103 grain ELD-X component projectiles, sold as bullet heads for handloaders rather than as loaded ammunition. The ELD-X (Extremely Low Drag — eXpanding) is Hornady's all-range hunting bullet, designed for consistent, controlled expansion whether the shot comes inside 100 yards or past 400. The Heat Shield polymer tip is engineered to resist aerodynamic heating in flight, which in conventional polymer tips causes deformation and a corresponding drop in ballistic coefficient mid-trajectory. By keeping the tip shape intact, the Heat Shield maintains the high ballistic coefficient from muzzle to target. The AMP jacket ensures controlled expansion and high weight retention across all ranges — at conventional ranges under 400 yards the bullet expands reliably through the impact zone, while beyond 400 yards at reduced velocities the tip drives rearward into the bullet to initiate expansion, producing a large mushroom and deep penetration. A cannelure allows secure crimping during the reloading process. Swaged lead core. Sold in boxes of 100. Suited to .243 Winchester and 6mm Creedmoor for deer stalking and long-range hunting.
