The Morakniv Erik Frost 163 Double Edge is a Swedish-made hook knife for spoon and bowl carving, built to the classic Erik Frost pattern. Its stainless steel blade is double-edged, so it cuts on both the pull and the push stroke, and it carries a more open, "loose radius" curve than the tighter 162 pattern — better suited to larger bowls and spoons with a shallower, wider hollow. The blade has been ground and set with carving in mind, giving a smooth, controlled cut through the inside of a bowl or spoon and a clean finish with minimal follow-up sanding. It is fitted with an oiled, barrel-shaped birch handle that sits comfortably in the palm for the twisting cuts hook carving demands. For protection in use and storage it comes with an edge guard made from Swedish vegetable-tanned leather, produced locally from regional cowhides. Compact and light at 190mm overall, it is an easy addition to a bushcraft or green-woodworking kit, and a natural companion to a straight carving knife for anyone working spoons, bowls or kuksas from freshly cut timber.
