The Nordik Crying Bird is a mouth-blown predator call from Swedish specialist Nordik, designed to imitate the distress calls of birds — sounds that draw in fox and other predators investigating an easy meal. One call gives you three distinct voices: blow short, intense bursts of air, or a hard "trrr, trrr, trrr", to mimic a woodpecker in distress; blow gently, letting air pass both in and out through the call, for the higher, softer cries of small birds in trouble; or hold a steady, controlled flow of air through the call for a convincing rabbit distress sound. All three exploit the same predator instinct — an easy meal in trouble — so it's worth practising each before you head out.
